This is how Gino Frutta was born, in Piazza S.Maria, in the historic center of Lucca. A shop where to find the best of our land, from beans to wild herbs, chicory, spinach. And then, the best fruit and vegetables available to an audience that has gradually become more and more loyal and numerous.

But something is missing. Gino realizes that these wonderful vegetables of his deserve to be enhanced by a skilful cuisine.

Thus was born the gastronomy department, where every day we prepare frantoiana soups, velvets, vegetable flans, cooked legumes but also superb mixed roasts, meatballs, cod, refined cheeses, salami and much more. All available to customers within the restaurant, but also as a home service.

An innovation that was immediately appreciated and which allowed the family to open a new store in 2010, in via S.Paolino at 56.

Gino Frutta & Bistrot, history is not told, it is done!

And we at Gino Frutta and Bistrot have made some history …

A long journey, which began over fifty years ago when the progenitor Camillo Pieri left Lucca every morning, to sell fruit in the hotels of the “Roaring” Versilia, in a Montecatini center of the world and in the Lucchese plain, where vegetables have always been in the DNA of people.

His son Gino, soon got on that vehicle too, who breathed passion, love, sacrifice and knowledge of raw materials from his father.

In the meantime, times change, and at the moment of passing the baton, almost twenty years ago, Gino decides that the time has come to change course: he wants a shop of his own, where he can put his father’s teachings to good use.

In 2017 the time comes for a new challenge: to open a real restaurant.
Thus was born Gino Bistrot.

Here in the morning you can lose yourself in the fragrance of fresh croissants from the oven, or in a breakfast based on fresh fruit, freshly made centrifuges, natural yogurt and Illy coffee. There is also the possibility of requesting an international breakfast directly from our chefs, who are always available to meet your every need.

And what about lunch? In the internal room, upstairs or outside (in the summer) Gino Bistrot is the right place to have a lunch dedicated to traditional dishes.

The staff is the strength of the Gino Pieri group: competent employees, who follow Gino from the first day of opening.

The group has recently been joined by Daniele Grieco, a professional sommelier, an attentive wine connoisseur who completed Gino Bistrot’s offer.

It is Dani and Gino themselves who guide customers in their search for the best wine to
enjoy together with the dishes served, ranging from wines from the Lucca area, the great Italian Crus and the best Champagne.

Gino Bistrot is also the perfect place for an aperitif and for a dinner with friends in a Lucca full of attractions.
